About this event

  • 1 hour

Therapeutic art-making uses visual creative processes integrated with the human experience with the goal of reducing symptoms of psychological trauma and maximizing daily functioning. Working through creative processes allows clients to explore and understand themselves on a deeper level than talking alone. Integrative art support groups use art and mindfulness as methods of self-care through expressing emotions and ideas, building connection and confidence, connecting with joy and purpose, developing insight and tools, and enjoying the tactile creative process of making art! Participants must supply their own art materials of their choosing (i.e., paints, markers, clay, pencils, or mixed media).

Online sessions are offered with Cara Rosa of Creative Wellness Art Therapy for trauma survivors throughout Nevada, the Route 91 community, emergency responders in Clark County, and anyone impacted by any mass violence incident nationwide approved for this no-cost integrative service through the Resiliency & Justice Center (previously known as the "Vegas Strong Resiliency Center").

Cara is a certified art therapist with a Master of Counselling degree and an Advanced Diploma in art therapy. She is a professional member of the American, Canadian, and Québec Art Therapy Associations as well as a Canadian Certified Counsellor. She is a dual American-Canadian citizen currently residing in Las Vegas. Working from a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centered approach, Cara’s goal is to provide a welcoming safe space that inspires people to explore wellness through creativity.
